Chords for Causes: A Recap

Chords for Causes: A Recap

By: Don Mamone

Based on the positive feedback and overwhelming success of the first ever Chords for Causes Fundraiser in 2015, your DFW NACE Board of Directors and more specifically your Director of Fundraising, Jacqueline Hill, decided to let the good times roll in 2016.  The second annual Lip Sync Benefit took place on Wednesday, September 7 at The Bomb Factory in Deep Ellum.  I hope you were able to make it to the event and this recap is just a reminder; however, if you were one of the unfortunate few did not make it…here is what you missed and all the reasons to make sure you attend next year!

Thanks to the generosity of so many, all the elements that contributed to the event’s success in 2015 were there once again with a creative new spin.  Guests were greeted by the courteous valet standing before a hand painted castle scene complete with a wishing well that served as the introduction to the elegantly understated theme.  Upon entering, we met the aerial gymnast Tinker Bell and were transported to Main Street, Disneyland through the magic of digital mapping.  From there, a Mylar balloon tunnel ushered guests to the main ballroom where a feast for their senses awaited them.  Culinary creations from Dallas’ best caterers were complimented by a selection of fine beverages.  The silent auction once again included exceptional items that represented a little something for everyone.  The design and décor of the space was nothing short of spectacular based on the creativity and hard work of Jacqueline and Debby of Branching Out fame.  The huge existing stage along with the production sound and lighting provided by the venue and Beyond was magnificent and the perfect setting for the EPIC lip sync acts created by our professional peers and friends.

This year, proceeds were dedicated to Make-A-Wish North Texas.  As I a sure you can imagine, granting wishes is not easy or inexpensive.  Jacqueline and her committee made the decision early on that they would set their sights on raising enough money to grant TWO wishes.  That was an ambitious goal by anyone’s standards.  Well, the money has been counted and the expenses considered and we are happy to report with considerable pride and a great deal of excitement that a donation in the amount of $18,000 was made to Make-A-Wish North Texas on North Texas Giving day to ensure we were able to capitalize on those additional funds.

Thank you for your support again this year.  We are already discussing the 2017 DFW NACE Fundraiser and know that, with your help, it will be another great success!
