Educated Bites – HOW TO TASTE WINE LIKE A PRO with Zach Byther

Have you ever wondered how sommeliers, wine professionals, and passionate wine enthusiasts can determine so much about a wine with ease by simply tasting it once or twice? What makes some people so good at understanding the differences between certain wine varietals, flavor profiles, wine growing regions, and how the age of a wine affects its characteristics? Join us June 6th as we explore these topics and more where Zach Byther, WSET III Advanced, with Republic National Distributing Company, will take attendees through the systematic approach to tasting and evaluating wine. During this seminar you will learn the basics of how to identify a wine’s appearance, its characteristics on the nose and palate, and how to conclude its overall quality and origin. Unlock the secrets of tasting wine like a pro to impress your friends, educate your coworkers and clients, and increase your personal knowledge of what sets wines apart from one another so you can better determine how to pair them with certain foods and what styles you like best and why. We will be tasting wines blind so bring your palate and RSVP in advance!

Internet trolls are out there … lurking in every corner of the World Wide Web, waiting to pounce with an email that you have used an image illegally – threatening fines or legal action. Do you have the knowledge to stop them in their tracks?

This presentation provides practical information from a planner’s perspective about copyright, plagiarism, public domain and busting some of the myths swirling around about legal rights and responsibilities in this digital age. This is not a stodgy legal presentation … you’ll get to test your copyright IQ and make sure you have the information available to mitigate risk for you, your staff, your client, your presenters and your vendors. Note: This is for a US-based audience as laws vary by country.

When you leave this session, you will be able to:
1. Illustrate ways to protect your company and your clients from potential legal action by fully understanding what constitutes copyright infringement specifically in relation to photography, artwork, film and music.
2. Identify resources for copyright free materials including the creative commons, government sites and public domain and objectively assess if fair use applies to usage.
3. Evaluate internal policies impacted by copyright issues such as social media postings (memes), speaker/vendor contracts and management of event materials.
