President’s Letter May 2018

President’s Letter May 2018

It is no big secret that I strongly believe that relationships are one of the considerable benefits to being an active members of our DFW chapter of NACE.  Emily and I routinely chat about all the wonderful professional associations, strategic partnerships and even close friendships formed through NACE. I talk about this often so why dedicate this month’s president’s letter to the topic of relationships?  Well, there are a precious few days for each of you to take advantage of an AWESOME way to form, build and strengthen some relationships of your own with both local DFW Members as well as with members from chapters all over the nation. (#statemates…am I right Kimberly and Angie)

The annual NACE national EXPERIENCE! Conference is just over 60 days away in the desert oasis of Palm Springs, CA and your DFW NACE board wants to help support your attendance by way of our scholarship program.  The year was 2012. The conference was in New Orleans. I applied for the scholarship and was honored to be awarded. Our business was fairly new so we still needed to keep expenses down. What followed was an EPIC road trip with our business associates turned good friends the Ecks.  We journed from Dallas south through Houston and across to New Orleans for 3 days of inspiration, education and relationship building. For Lauren and me anyway…Emily and Cory listened to Jazz and ate their way through the coolest areas of NOLA. Add a couple of days at a Galveston resort to rest and recharge on the way home and you have one heck of an awesome mint julep drinking, zydeco listening, beignet eating, relationship building trip.

Although I don’t necessarily recommend a road trip from Dallas to Palm Springs, I encourage you to apply for the scholarship and consider coordinating your travel with a friend so the bonding can begin immediately.  There are multiple airports close to Palm Springs that can offer you less expensive airfare and the opportunity for a mini road trip. I can not guarantee that it will be as epic as our adventure with The Ecks but I challenge you to try.
