Building Business After a Life-Changing Moment

Life throws us curveballs at the most unexpected moments, with no regard for your business ownership, client base, or personal life. As an entrepreneur, it can be an extremely trying time for your brand, your business, and your team. Unfortunately, there is no handbook for dealing with these moments of grief, and it can be an overwhelming learning curve to endure. Join José as he discusses his own experience with the life-changing loss of his husband, how grieving initially impacted his business, and how he picked himself back up and returned stronger than ever (and how you can do the same).

Takeaways include:

  1. Stages of grief and how they impact your business, including a more technical approach to what things you need in place to avoid an absence within your brand.
  2. Having a plan of action. What strategies to put in place to provide yourself and your business with security in the event of a loss or hardship.
  3. What you can do to communicate with your audience and clients, whether it’s sharing the moment as part of your brand/your story or removing it from the public eye for a more private approach.
  4. Tips for focusing on growth, support, and the future during emotional turmoil/depression and remaining business-forward as best you can. Finding the balance of growth and knowing it’s okay to grieve, including best practices for self-care.

Pocket Profitability – How to Run Your Business and Make Money with your Mobile Device

You have more power in your pocket than they needed to send a man to the moon – and yet if you don’t know how to use your phone, it’s just an expensive and distracting paperweight.

You need to know how to harness that power and make it profitable, so you can run your business instead of having it run you, and be the most profitable member of your business team.

In “Pocket Profitability,” NACE members will learn:

  1. A plan to stop wasting money and time on useless apps
  2. The ability to leverage the tools already on their phone
  3. The what and why a tool is useful – or not
  4. A workable plan for various parts of their day to be more effective and efficient, and profitable – without spending a fortune!

Ochoa brings extensive knowledge of the science behind taste, aroma and the senses to the distillery team at F&R, having graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Food Science and a master’s in Animal Science.  During her studies, Ochoa spent time working in a sensory kitchen before becoming a research technician in a flavor chemistry lab. On a daily basis, Ochoa tests samples and quantifies the aromas and flavors of F&R products at every stage of the distillation, maturation, and blending, ensuring that F&R’s products maintain the highest standards of quality and consistency.

Purveyors of Pixie Dust – How to Use the Magic of Storytelling to Drive Results

Summer Jelinek

Have you ever attended a meeting, conference, or educational event and when someone asks what you learned, you find yourself sharing a story from the speaker instead of a statistic? Do you love hearing the story of how a long-married couple first met? If so, you are living proof that as humans, we are hardwired to focus on stories. As a business owner, why does this matter to you? If you can translate what you do into a story for your client, or even better, use what you do to elevate their story, then you are tapping into the secret weapon used by many successful companies and entrepreneurs. Join Summer Jelinek as she shares her love and passion for storytelling; learned from some of the best companies in the world, including Walt Disney World, The Disney Institute, and H-E-B, to help you use the magic of storytelling to drive results for your clients.

  • Understand why the most important part of the story is not the Once Upon a Time
  • Learn how a consistent sprinkle of the story will enhance the client experience and keep them  coming back for more
  • Receive specific examples on how the best story tellers are able to see a happily ever after that the Client hasn’t even imagined

Good People Make Great Communicators

Few of us need to give speeches and even fewer want to hear from them, but we all have to communicate well to do our jobs well. This is especially true for those of us in service industries because our success often depends on how well we interact with people under high levels of stress, which can make monsters out of the best of us.

David Henderson will share a few techniques he learned as an SVU prosecutor that will help manage difficult personalities on your job the way they helped him manage them in court.

Members $45

Student $35
Virtual $15
