Hello! I’m Marchantia Smith, the Owner and Lead Planner at Marchantia Smith Events. I founded my business in the summer of 2022, turning my passion for planning beautifully crafted weddings and special occasions into a thriving career. With a background in Information Technology at a Fortune 500 snack and beverage company and my Project Management Professional Certification, I bring a unique blend of strategic planning and meticulous attention to detail to every event. These experiences have allowed me to seamlessly plan, design, and execute corporate, social, and private events for my clients.
Although I began my career in IT, my love for event planning has been a constant throughout my life. For years, I planned events for family and friends as a hobby—always striving for excellence and never charging a fee. My network knew me for my precision, reliability, and passion, trusting that their events were in good hands. Today, I serve the Dallas Metroplex, coordinating events of all sizes, including a gala for over 1,300 guests.
What excites me most about my work is watching the months of planning come to life, witnessing my clients’ joy when their vision is realized—it’s truly priceless!
Joining DFW NACE has been a pivotal moment in my journey, pushing me outside my comfort zone and connecting me with incredible peers in the catering and events industry. I’ve been fortunate to learn valuable insights from many of you, which I keep in my back pocket as I continue to grow both personally and professionally.
As a volunteer on the NACE Program Committee, I love collaborating with talented professionals to plan our monthly meetings, vet prospective venues, and engage with our vendor sponsors. I’ve also had the pleasure of assisting the NACE Community Service Committee by planning the Winter Feast of Giving for deserving families in the South Dallas Community last fall, which has given me even more opportunities to expand my network.
In addition to my passion for event planning, I have a few personal goals—one of which is to embark on a two-week Mediterranean cruise to France, Italy, and Greece.
I’m also happily married to the love of my life, Edwin, and we are proud parents of beautiful twin daughters. I earned my CWEP certification in the summer of 2021 after completing a 12-week business course under the guidance of my amazing instructor, Shamica Sweat, who inspired me to take the leap and start my own business. Thanks to her encouragement, I became a member of DFW NACE and haven’t looked back since.
I look forward to collaborating with my fellow NACE members and building meaningful relationships with the vendors I recommend to my clients. My ultimate goal is to create seamless, memorable events that exceed my clients’ expectations, all while fostering personal connections with the talented professionals in our community.
